2012 :-)

A New Year Prayer

May God make your year a happy one!
Not necessarily by shielding you from all sorrows and pain,
But necessarily by strengthening you to bear it, as it comes;
Not necessarily by making your path easy,
But by making you sturdy to travel any path;
Not necessarily by taking hardships from you,
But by taking fear from your heart;
Not necessarily by granting you unbroken sunshine,
But by keeping your face bright, even in the shadows;
Not necessarily by making your life always pleasant,
But by showing you when people need you most,
and by making you willing to help.
May God’s love, peace, hope and joy be with you for the year ahead!

Christ the King

Then the King will say to those at his right hand, `Come, O blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world; for I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me,  I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.'

28th Sunday

On this mountain the Lord of hosts will make for all peoples
a feast of rich food, a feast of well-matured wines,
of rich food filled with marrow, of well-matured wines strained clear.
  And he will destroy on this mountain
  the shroud that is cast over all peoples,
  the sheet that is spread over all nations;
  he will swallow up death for ever.
Then the Lord God will wipe away the tears from all faces,
and the disgrace of his people he will take away from all the earth,
for the Lord has spoken.

17th Sunday

The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and covered up; then in his joy he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field. Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant in search of fine pearls,  who, on finding one pearl of great value, went and sold all that he had and bought it.

Matthew 13:44-46

Sunday, 17 July 2011

16th Sunday

"The kingdom of heaven may be compared to a man who sowed good seed in his field;  but while men were sleeping, his enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat, and went away.  So when the plants came up and bore grain, then the weeds appeared also.  And the servants of the householder came and said to him, ‘Sir, did you not sow good seed in your field? How then has it weeds?'  He said to them, `An enemy has done this.' The servants said to him, `Then do you want us to go and gather them?'  But he said, `No; lest in gathering the weeds you root up the wheat along with them.  Let both grow together until the harvest; and at harvest time I will tell the reapers, Gather the weeds first and bind them in bundles to be  burned, but gather the wheat into my barn.'"

15th Sunday

"A sower went out to sow. And as he sowed, some seeds fell along the path, and the birds came and devoured them. Other seeds fell on rocky ground, where they had not much soil, and immediately they sprang up, since they had no depth of soil,  but when the sun rose they were scorched; and since they had no root they withered away. Other seeds fell upon thorns, and the thorns grew up and choked them. Other seeds fell on good soil and brought forth grain, some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty. He who has ears, let him hear."
Matthew 13:3-9

 I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth,

MOST HOLY TRINITY SUNDAY

For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God sent the Son into the world, not to condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through him. He who believes in him is not condemned; he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
 John 3:16-18

Ascension of the Lord

You are witnesses of these things.  And behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you; but stay in the city, until you are clothed with power from on high."  Then he led them out as far as Bethany, and lifting up his hands he blessed them.  While he blessed them, he parted from them, and was carried up into heaven.  And they returned to Jerusalem with great joy,  and were continually in the temple blessing God.
Luke 24:48-53

4th Sunday of Easter

Today, the fourth Sunday of Easter. Good Shepherd Sunday is the day chosen as the World Day of Prayer for Vocations to the Priesthood and Consecrated Life.

O Holy Spirit, Spirit of wisdom and divine love,
 impart Your knowledge, understanding,
and counsel to youth
that they may know the vocation wherein they can best serve God.
Give them courage and strength to follow God's holy will.
Guide their uncertain steps, strengthen their resolutions,
shield their chastity, fashion their minds,
conquer their hearts, and lead them to the vineyards
where they will labor in God's holy service.
Amen.

and

JPII - John Paul II's beatification day

also in our parish a joyful celebration
 First Holy Communion at the 11 a.m. - we pray for 38 boys and girls

O Holy Trinity,
we thank you for having given to the Church
Pope John Paul II,
and for having made him shine with your fatherly tenderness,
the glory of the Cross of Christ and the splendor of the Spirit of love

He, trusting completely in your infinite mercy
and in the maternal intercession of Mary, has shown himself
in the likeness of Jesus the Good Shepherd
and has pointed out to us holiness
as the path to reach eternal communion with You.

Grant us, through his intercession,
according to your will, the grace that we implore,
in the hope that he will soon be numbered among your saints.
Amen.

Think not that I have come to abolish the law and the prophets; I have come not to abolish them but to fulfil them. For truly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away,not an iota, not a dot, will pass from the law until all is accomplished. Whoever then relaxes one of the least of these commandments and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but he who does them and teaches them shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. (Mt 5:17-19)
